Applications Open for Foot in the Door Liverpool
Helping Liverpool’s next generation of creative talent access the opportunities they deserve
The Andy Taylor Foundation (in partnership with Liverpool Film Office and Liverpool’s Youth Guarantee Trailblazer Scheme) is delighted to announce that applications are now open for Foot in the Door Liverpool, a new paid training and work experience programme designed to help young people break into careers in digital media, content and marketing.
The programme launches at a time when the UK’s youth opportunity crisis has never been more urgent.
Recent figures show that almost one million young people across the UK are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET), with experts warning that the country risks creating a “lost generation” if more is not done to help young people access meaningful opportunities. Research from Alan Milburn’s government-commissioned Young People and Work review found that most young people classified as NEET want to work or train, but face barriers including a lack of professional networks, limited access to opportunities and financial constraints.
Addressing those barriers sits at the heart of the Andy Taylor Foundation’s mission.
Founded in memory of digital media pioneer Andy Taylor, the Foundation exists to help young people from underrepresented backgrounds access opportunities in the creative industries through mentoring, bursaries, industry connections, work experience and skills development. The Foundation has long championed the belief that talent is evenly distributed, but opportunity is not.
Foot in the Door Liverpool is the latest step in that mission.
