FOOT IN THE DOOR LIVERPOOL 2026.
MEET OUR NEW COHORT!
12 young people. Seven weeks. A chance to take their first steps into the creative industries.
We’re delighted to share that our 12 participants have now been selected for Foot in the Door Liverpool 2026, our paid training and work experience programme supporting young people who face barriers to entering the creative industries.
Delivered by the Andy Taylor Foundation in collaboration with Liverpool Film Office, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Liverpool’s Youth Guarantee Trailblazer Scheme, Foot in the Door is designed to help talented young people build the skills, confidence, connections and practical experience needed to begin a career in digital media.
Made Possible by Our Partners
Foot in the Door Liverpool would not be possible without the organisations sharing our commitment to opening up opportunities for the next generation of creative talent.
We’re proud to be working in collaboration with Liverpool Film Office, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Liverpool’s Youth Guarantee Trailblazer Scheme, alongside our fantastic industry and programme partners:
From Discovery Day to Our 2026 Cohort:
Following our programme launch and Discovery Day in Liverpool, we were delighted to meet so many creative, curious and ambitious young people interested in building careers in the industry.
Our Founder, Lara Taylor, and Programme Directors, Ewan Vinnicombe Wallis and Helen Blair, spent time getting to know applicants, hearing about their interests and ambitions, and sharing more about the opportunities available through Foot in the Door.
With our 12 participants now selected, we’re looking forward to welcoming the cohort in October and supporting them through the next stage of their journey.
What Will Our Participants Be Learning?
The programme begins on Monday 19 October 2026, with three weeks of industry-led training running until Friday 6 November 2026.
Led by Programme Directors Ewan Vinnicombe Wallis and Helen Blair, the training will help participants develop practical digital media skills alongside the confidence and professional understanding needed to thrive in a workplace.
Across the three weeks, the cohort will explore:
- Digital media and content creation: developing creative ideas, understanding audiences and learning how content works across digital and social platforms.
- Communication and teamwork: building confidence in sharing ideas, collaborating with others and contributing to a professional team.
- Workplace readiness: understanding workplace expectations, professional behaviours and how to approach new opportunities.
- CV and portfolio development: learning how to present their skills, experience and creative potential to future employers.
- Industry insight and networking: meeting professionals, learning about different career pathways and beginning to build valuable industry connections.
The aim is to help every participant recognise what they have to offer, develop new skills and feel prepared to take their next step into the industry.
Putting Learning into Practice
Following the training, participants will move into four weeks of paid work experience, giving them the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in real working environments.
Working alongside creative industry professionals, they’ll gain first-hand experience, develop their professional networks and discover more about the roles and opportunities available across digital media, content and the wider creative industries.
Participants will be paid the Real Living Wage throughout the seven-week programme, helping ensure that financial barriers do not prevent talented young people from taking part.
Programme dates
Training: Monday 19 October – Friday 6 November 2026
Paid work experience: Monday 9 November – Friday 4 December 2026
